Chris Janjic specializes in non-fiction cinematography with a focus on character-driven work. He is known for his calm presence and collaborative approach.

As director of photography, Chris’ most recent feature-length documentaries include Atomic Echoes and Firebreak. Atomic Echoes premiered on PBS in 2025 and received two Awards of Excellence in the Documentary Feature and Women Filmmakers categories at the Impact Doc Awards. Firebreak, on which he also shared a co-producer credit, premiered at the 2024 Bend Film Festival and went on to win the Bushra Azzouz Impact Award at Portland Panorama in 2025 and Best Documentary Feature at the 2025 Eastern Oregon Film Festival.

Chris’ cinematography has contributed to broadcast and short-form projects recognized by the National Daytime Emmy, Northwest Regional Emmy, AIB, Communicator, Telly, W3, and Webby Awards, among others.

His clients include PBS, The New York Times, Adidas, Google, Max (formerly HBO), discovery+, Magnolia Network, Food Network, Wondrium, Coca-Cola, Gillette, Realtor.com, Jacobs Solutions, and Pearson. He has production experience in over 15 countries across five continents.

Chris began his career in film as associate producer on Jay Myself, which premiered at DOC NYC. He earned his B.S. in Photojournalism from Syracuse University and is an alum of the Eddie Adams and Mountain Workshops.

He is based in Portland, OR, and is available for projects worldwide.
